The lego story

In 1932, Billund, Switzerland, there was man named Oli and he had four sons and a wife. He was a carpenter, he also worked very hard to get some money for christmas and for his family. Sadly Oli lost his wife so decided to make wooden toys to cheer up his sons and then sold them.

One day there was a man that came into Oli’s factory shop to change Oli’s Life. Godfrey helped his Dad pack the toy’s into the box so they could take it to the shops so they can have money for food on christmas.

One windy night the Factory was on fire and the fire wouldn’t stop and most of the wooden toys were gone.  After the fire went out Oli decided to rebuild the factory but it was even bigger. When the building was done they  made more and more toy’s for the people and for their children to play with.

Later in life and when Oli was gone Godfrey was running the company and had to go through another fire, but godfrey still went to the builders and told them if they can make the factory again.

The Lego company is still going today and still selling lots of toys.   

Netbook Reflection

In the start of the year I got my netbook I was excited and happy but I was a little nervous because when I use it might break. I was a little fussy with it when I got it.

When I’m with my netbook I’m not nervous anymore because my teacher showed me how to use it, and it’s fun doing my homework on the netbook’s because I can type faster now. We use our finger’s to type the words.

I am very happy with my netbook because it is very special to me. Also when we type on the key’s our finger’s don't hurt that much. It is easier to publish our work to your blogs too.

Some people distract other’s while they do their work. Also we have to remember to charge our netbooks because it might die when you're doing your work. It is good to charge your netbook so it can get some juice to make it stay on.

Next year I’m looking forward to learning new stuff using my netbook, and also being confident with it. I plan to learn new stuff about maths, and get a good report because I hope to have lifted my achievement levels.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2012

                                     On Wednesday morning the whole school went to Sylvia Park, and we watched some short clips from each school and some of the children were on the big screen and I was too.

I sat next to Valensia and Mr Gaffney and we sat on the luxury chairs at the back of the theatre. I really liked it when I lay my head on the chair because it was like I was at home watching movies on my couch.

I really enjoyed this years film festival. My favourite movie was Be Happy by room 7 because I really liked the singing because it was beautiful and I liked their smiling faces in the video.

I am really looking forward to next year's Film Festival because  
I want to see the whole thing on the Manaiakalani film festival.

The Life Education Van

Today me and Room3 went into the life Education Van and we learnt about the 3 food sources we also  talked about what's good for our body. tan wasn't a real body but she told us that when we eat food, we eat it with our teeth and we swallow with our saliva also we move the food around with our tongue. The three sources we eat most that is Verge's and fruits the next one is meat from other animals and fish also it's yoghurt milk. The last one is the treats that's the one we a not posts to eat because it has dung k inside it. The food goes down your throat and down to your stomach then it goes to your small Intestines and it turns into little pieces.

Learning Journal

Being a successful learner involves you being reflective about the learning process. It is about you identifying your strengths, weaknesses and areas you would like to improve in. Reflection just does not happen at the end of a task, it can be throughout a task.

2. What have you learnt this term? This term I learn about 3D shapes and I learnt about writing descriptions.

Kids for Kids Concert

On Monday 17 September, I went to the Telstraclear Centre at Manukau with my father. when I went there I was happy to be there because I got to sing and do a little dancing. The first ones that went to the centre were me Caroline, Catherine and Illaisane, then it was the twins that came.

When we got there Miss G did not arrived yet and we had to stay outside. Then we saw Miss G coming in. After that we went into the first garage and we sat on the floor and listened to the person that was talking. We sat down and we played with the knucklebones and played with the cards. After that Daynah was talking and she told us to clap the way she claps.

We had to sit on the seats and some of the other kids sat on the chairs and the little kids sat on the wooden longboards on the stage.  When we sat down we looked at the curtain and we had a little practice at doing the claps again. They opened the curtain to each side and then we looked at the people and we saw there were a lot of people that came to the concert.

At half time we all had a rest and we ate chocolate and a biscuit, we had fun and we had a little play while the people were waiting for us to return to the stage. A big screen showed up and the people watched the World Vison video and some of us had a little peek while they were watching. We watched the world vision video because we had to look at the kids who are poor and help them which is what the concert was for.

The show was almost finished and we all sang one more song then  I went to the takeaways and I brought fish and chips to eat with my dad. I was happy and he gave me $10 for being so good. I thought that I sang good and so does the other people who sang. It was a great night at the Telstraclear Centre.

My favourite thing from the Olympics

X - Country

On Friday 24th August, Saint Pius X school had cross country, at cross country there were teachers holding the flags and there were parents waiting for their children to race.

We waited and waited and then the race started, first it was the boys in room 1 then it was the girls in room 1. It was very very fun and some of the kids were standing and saying “go! go! go!”. It was room 4 then room 5 but still the boys had to be first and the girls had to be the second. After that it was the 10 year olds, Jane was the first one to come in the 10 year olds they were very fast. We all were waiting for our turn to race but we were racing in the 9 year olds, we were almost the last ones, I was hungry and thirsty.

When the children were ready to race they got into their places and they got ready, Miss G was the teacher to blow the start whistle. When she said “are you ready kids?”, then we said “yes”, she said “on your marks, get set, GO!” we all went running. When  I was running on the course it was so hot I was tired but I kept on running then I started to do the power walking then I jogged. When I was almost at the end I sprinted it and I was at the end.

When all the students were back from their running we went to our classrooms and we sat on the mat and ate our fruit. We all went home tired. It was a lovely day.

Fractions- Week 5

A Fraction is a piece of a whole.

It shows to numbers together, Fractions can be orders,Fractions have numarater and denominater.

My favourite thing about fractions is that you can make halfs and holes.

Anointing

Anointing is when you use Holy Water and special oil which is called Charism. Anointing is when father heals and baptised them with the Holy Water. What happens is that you get blessed by the Holy Water and you get Welcomed to the Church as a Community.

Netbook Discription

My Netbook feels kind of smooth on the top and rough on the bottom, it is shiny and it is black, my netbook. when I shut it down.My netbook is not a playing thing it is a learning thing.My netbook looks 

after my work on the internet and it keeps it safe.
My netbook looks like a little mini computer. I like doing my work on my laptop because it is fun to your work on it and it is fun to know how to spell new words on the computers that is why i like to do my work on the laptop.

A netbook is a machine that you can do what you want to do, also you can post stuff like homework or anything.My netbook saves a lot of my stuff so when I’m not finished with my work I can just exit out of my work and the next day I can come back and finish it all.
I always use my netbook very carefully, and I never use it like a toy I use my Netbook like a learning tool. I type with my keys so on my screen there a words I can read.
We are some of the first people in New Zealand to use netbooks for our learning.
My netbook is a learning tool I leave my work on the internetto keep it safe and when I'm finished I can share it to the dashboard.

Maths Reflection Week 2

Learning Intention- I learnt how to order fractions.

halfs - I know 1/2 one half, 1/5 one fifth, 1/6 one sixth, 1/9 one nineth, 1/4 one fourth, 1/3 one third, 1/7 one seventh and 1/10's.  I know how to add the pieces altogether and to make it look like a shape.

We do fraction, which we do is biggest to smallest or smallest to biggest, in other ways we say least for smallest and gratest is biggest.

Maths Refiction WK1-T3

Learning Intention: We are learning to add numbers to Hundreds and to Tens.

The first big ones a thousands and the second ones that a sepiriated are the hundred and tens a the ones with the blocks standing strait and ones are the ones that like just one blocks each.

Imagination Story

---

                                   


When I woke up in the morning, my mother told me to go and help my father do the garden. I got up and I went outside, it was so cold and shady that I wanted to go back to bed again. To help my father to do his flowers he told me to dig and he would put seeds into the holes and I said “OK”. While I was digging it, it got deeper and deeper and then I said to my father “is that it dad?” but my father said “keep on digging.”
I dug deeper and deeper and the ground start to crack and while the crack opened a huge wind blew me into the hole and I fell into the hole and screamed and cried.  

When I feel down I saw wiggy jelly house and the grounds were all green and blue and bouncy. There was a shadow coming towards me, the shadow started to get bigger and bigger. I kept on looking at the shadow and saw a man coming towards me.  He said that his name was David Dominic, he had googly eyes, fat arms, wiggly legs and four toes.

He gave me a glass ball and inside the glass ball was the man's world and snowflakes all over it. When the man gave the glass ball to me I said “thank you, I will look after this glass ball of your world”. I closed my eyes and then opened them again and I was my backyard again. I went to my room and I hid the ball under the bed.
I went back outside and helped my dad finish off the last few flowers. When we were finished doing the flowers we went inside the house and ate pizza bread and a cup of milo.

The man said “this world is called jellystone” and I said “WOW! this world is so awesome”. The man said “do you want to come inside the house?” We bounced to the man's house where there was food with jelly and jelly meat. I said that I couldn’t eat all of this I said to the man right next to me and then i walked outside as I was talking to the man.    
 

Pigeon Impossible

Plot: The Little short film that room3 was watching is call pigeon Impossible.When walter went to sit down at the chairs there was a pigeon looking at walter because the pigeon wanted the donut and then walter gave the pigeon a little of his donut and the pigeon didn’t want to get the little donut and then walter gave the pigeon the hole donut. Then walter hold on to the suitcase and flew into the air and he got the little bom out and made it go into the rocket and try to make it explode and it did.  

Problem: The pigeon wanted the hole donut and walter only gave the pigeon a little of his donut and the pigeon didn’t want the donut that went on the floor,so the pigeon went flying into walter and then walter threw the donut away and when the donut landed it landed on the red button.The rocket went up in the air and inside the rocket was a bom and it was going to russia. walter was not allowed open to  open the suitcase but he did, when the rocket went up it in the air walter flew up in the air with the suitcase and try to make it not go to russia and walter saved the day and then the rocket flew down and landed on the pigeon.

Solution: When walter opened the suitcase the pigeon flew out.

Your opinion of the story: I liked the part when the woman was running from the suitcase.

This is my kowaiwai pattern that I did During class I did this for my maori art,Reuben Paterson was the man who inspired us to do this kind of pattern,I enjoy doing this pattern because it is the best thing I have ever did,I found it difficult to do the Glitter because I didn’t know which part to glitter because I wanted to glitter it all.
